- Submitted

Join artists and their hosts for an evening of art, music and refreshments as you stroll from one venue to the next, each showcasing local art and artistry.

Held in Historic Downtown Ukiah on the first Friday of each month, the First Friday Art Walk is the perfect way to relax your body, mind and soul. This enjoyable evening begins at 5 p.m. and promises to delight your senses, all while enjoying the company of others.

Bona Marketplace, 116 W. Standley St., will be featuring Charles Gilchrist who is sadly no longer with us but has left many beautiful pieces in the hands of his good friend Joe Hart to display for our enjoyment. Charles created amazing geometric pieces with spiritual meaning. The show is titled “Sacred Geometry,” and we will have a short video about Charles.

Art Center Ukiah, 201 S. State St., will present “Birds: Winged Messengers,” an art show… not just about birds, but about the magic of birds, sponsored by the Peregrine Audubon Society. Local artists exhibit images of birds and their habitat in a variety of media, fabric, woodcut linotype, metal sculpture, photographs, and paintings. Peregrine Audubon provides informative and educational public programs and participates actively as an advocate for environmental conservation covering interior Mendocino County. An informational table is part of the show. Opening Friday, March 1, 5- 8 p.m., and on display thru March 30.

Corner Gallery, 201 S. State St. presents “Lost World” and “Hope and Resilience” works of local watercolorist Mary Waters Monroe. This new show will be unlike others that Mary has put together in the gallery's windows. This time there will be two distinct components: endangered animals on one side, entitled “Lost World,” inspired by her time in Zambia and the exhilarating beauty of our environment on the other side, entitled “Hope and Resilience,” inspired by her time in the outdoors of Northern California.

The First Friday opening will be on March 1 from 5-8 p.m. Live music will be provided throughout the evening by Steve Winkle.

Grace Hudson Museum, 431 S. Main St.: Make the Grace Hudson Museum part of your Ukiah First Friday Art Walk on March 1.

As we'll be between special exhibitions, we've cooked up something new and different for our front gallery — an open mic for musicians, poets, and spoken word artists. We've asked Marjo Wilson (who is an artist, singer, and songwriter) to serve as emcee.

Come early and sign up for a 10-minute slot. Anyone who has played music here knows the acoustics in the front gallery are terrific. Take advantage of this unique opportunity.

As always, visitors can also discover or get reacquainted with our core galleries featuring Grace Hudson's artwork, exquisite Pomo basketry, and Hudson- Carpenter family history. Also, Ziggy, our wonderful gardens docent returns to lead end- of-winter tours of the Wild Gardens. Light refreshments will be served. The museum will be open from 5 to 8 p.m., with the open mic winding down at 7:30 p.m. First Fridays are always free to everyone all day and evening.

The Lot, corner of Main Street and Standley Street: The Lot on Main is making a comeback (weather permitting) with local artists.

Ukiah Library, 105 N. Main St.: The Ukiah Branch Library staff invites the community to join us for Art Walk Ukiah on Friday, March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. Come and enjoy the colorful, joyous, and sometimes silly world of artist Marco Donner.

The Branch will host sweet tunes by Marco's daughter Lhasa Summers. There will be an in-person hands- on creative arts program. Enjoy a book sale by the Ukiah Valley Friends of the Library as you browse the Art Walk. See's Candies will also be for sale. This exhibit is free to the public, open to all ages, and sponsored by the Ukiah Valley Friends of the Library and Mendocino County Library.

Accent Tattoo, 207 S.

State St.: Ukiah-based Accent Tattoo introduces its inaugural Art Walk Extravaganza, an immersive experience merging tattoo art with diverse artistic expressions.

Featuring renowned artists like Joe Love, Thalia Luciani, Ren and Mason Deguzman, the event includes live tattooing sessions, an international art showcase, and an evening of creative exploration. Embrace a sensory haven with unique artworks, delectable treats, and a celebration of artistic possibilities.
