AAUW Ukiah offers scholarships for local women

All are invited to a Dessert Buffet on Sunday, March 17, between 1-3 p.m. at the Saturday Afternoon Clubhouse located at 107 S. Oak St., Ukiah.

Each year the AAUW Ukiah offers three scholarships to women from Lake and Mendocino counties who want to return to Mendocino College to further their education. The recipients of these scholarships speak of the importance of receiving recognition as well as the financial support which helps to further their career paths and hopes for an improved life.

Lisa Baker, a scholarship recipient and the transitional president of the AAUW Student Club at Mendocino College wrote:

“I am honored by your belief in my goals and abilities, and I admire your investment in Mendocino and Lake County women. My own goal is to work for a sustainable future which will only work if women and girls are elevated at every step.”

This event is a Scholarship Fundraising Dessert Party to support both the scholarships and the operations of AAUW Ukiah, which is dedicated to working for women's equality, locally, statewide and nationally.

Suggested donation is $20. Free entrance for scholarship donations of $100. A bidding opportunity for a three-night stay at a beautiful oceanfront home with hot tub that sleeps six persons and is located at Irish Beach in Mendocino County will be featured at the Dessert Buffet.
