Drive-by shooting investigated
MCSO: Ukiah toddler nearly injured
A Ukiah toddler was nearly hit by a bullet in a drive-by shooting this week, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office reported.
According to the MCSO, a resident in the 1700 block of Tanya Lane reported around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday that shots were fired near their home, and that a bullet had “struck their residence and almost struck their 11-month- old child who was located within the living room area of the residence.”
When deputies responded to the home, where a 38-year- old woman and a 41-year- old man also live, the investigators reportedly learned that “multiple shots were fired from a vehicle toward residences in the area” after they located evidence at the scene and contacted witnesses.
At the home with the toddler, the MCSO reports that “the gunfire resulted in a projectile penetrating the residence, which became embedded in an interior wall. The projectile was found to be within inches of striking both the adult male and the juvenile when it entered the residence.”
When deputies checked the other residences “which may have also been struck by gunfire, (they) did not locate any additional victims or evidence to suggest anyone was injured during this incident.”
Anyone who may have information to share regarding this incident is “urged to contact the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center at 707- 463- 4086. Information can also be provided anonymously by calling the nonemergency tip line at 707-2342100.”
MCSO: Man given Narcan in Redwood Valley restroom
A man believed to be suffering an overdose was administered Narcan Thursday in a Redwood Valley business, the Mendocino
County Sheriff's Office reported.
According to the MCSO, deputies responded to the 8500 block of East Road in Redwood Valley around 2:15 p.m. March 14 when it was reported that someone “had been in the restroom for an extended amount of time and was not responding to employees of the business.”
After “gaining entry into the restroom,” the deputy reportedly found an unresponsive person, described only as a 34-year- old Redwood Valley man.
“Fearing the adult male was suffering the beginning stages of a potential lethal drug overdose, the deputy administered multiple doses of Narcan,” the MCSO reports, adding that the man “responded to the administered Narcan, and medical personnel arrived shortly thereafter and began providing additional medical treatment.”
