Youth voices speak out against tobacco

- Submitted

The Born to Breathe Youth Media Festival, now in its third year, is a powerful platform for local youth to share their experiences with tobacco and nicotine addiction. It brings together young people from Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, and Lake counties, along with community leaders and elected officials, who gain invaluable insights into the challenges faced by our youth.

The awards ceremony will be May 3 where $5,000, generously donated by Adventist Health Clear Lake, will be up for grabs by these talented youth.

“We are excited to have another in-person event this year to celebrate the hard work these kids have exhibited,” stated Amber Wier, project director for NorCal 4 Health. “This media festival is a way for youth voices to be heard in a bold way, reaching far beyond just their communities.”

Judges and attendees will include local media, politicians and community leaders, ensuring this event is recognized as an important opportunity to gather insight and direction from our youth.
