Three schools in the Mother Lode had teams competing Thursday and here are some results.

The Bret Harte varsity girls soccer team beat Escalon 1-0 in Angels Camp on a goal scored by Bullfrogs sophomore midfielder Gracie Shaw for their second victory this week. Bret

Harte improves to 3-3 overall with the win.

The Calaveras varsity soccer girls played Amos Alonzo Stagg High School to a scoreless draw in Stockton.

It was their second tie this week, having fought Escalon to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. Calaveras now has 1 win, 3 losses and 2 draws for 1-3-2 record overall so far this season.

The Sonora varsity boys basketball team lost Thursday for the first time this season, 7254, to Newark Memorial at the 2019 Mark Gallo Invitation­al Tournament at Central Catholic High School in Modesto.

They trailed 34-30 at halftime.

Wildcats scorers were Jon Mayben with 10 points, Callahan Hanson with 6, Austin Patterson with 22 points, Spencer

Copello with 6, Gabe Milbourn with 4, and Devon Dye with 6.

Sonora varsity head coach Lloyd Longeway says the Wildcats are scheduled to play the tournament hosts Central Catholic at 3:30 p.m. Friday and they will play another tournament game Saturday. Sonora's overall record this season is now 5-1.

The Bret Harte varsity girls basketball team beat Linden 55-35 in a tournament game at Linden on Thursday.

The Bullfrogs improved to 2-6 overall so far this season.

Also in girls basketball, the Sonora Wildcats varsity team beat Valley High School 54-44 in a Mountain House Tournament game at Mountain

House High School. Jessica Berry scored 21 points for the Wildcats and Shekinah Calindas scored 17.

The win advances Sonora to play Mountain House at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The win Thursday improves the Wildcats to 3-4 overall so far this season.
