COVID-19: another case in Calaveras County
A San Andreas woman has tested positive for coronavirus, the 16th case recorded in Calaveras County.
Calaveras County Public Health Department put out a statement about the case around noon but did not provide any other information such as whether it was related to any other cases already identified in the county or how the person contracted the virus.
Dr. Dean Kelaita,
Calaveras County Health Officer, could not be reached immediately for comment.
The last case was in late May, a Valley Springs man who was hospitalized.
They described him as “an older adult.”
The Calaveras County cases — the first two announced in early March — are centered in Copperopolis, West Point, Valley Springs and the upper Highway 4 area.
The Health Department is investigating who the recent case has been around and is monitoring family members and others for symptoms.
On Wednesday June 3, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed an additional case of “Community transmission of disease remains a serious concern,” the health department said in its new release.
Testing is being done in
Angels Camp by Optumserve, a health services partner with the State of California, on a walk-in basis at the Calaveras Fairgrounds.
In all, 1,293 people have been tested in Calaveras County and 13 of the 16 people who tested postive have recovered, according to the news release.
