Twain Harte School staff member tests positive for COVID
A staff member at Twain Harte School has tested positive for COVID-19, the superintendent and principal for the school said in an announcement Sunday.
Administrators at the school were notified by the Tuolumne County Public Health Department that the staff member tested positive on Saturday.
The individual acquired the pandemic virus somewhere outside the school, and the individual has had no close contacts with other staff or any students in the school, Tuolumne County public health contact tracers determined.
The area where the individual works at the school has been disinfected by janitorial staff, Rick Hennes, the superintendent, and Gabe Wingo, the principal, said in a joint statement.
Tuolumne County public health staff have isolated the individual, Hennes and Wingo said, and they have determined no school closure or quarantine measures are necessary in response to this case.
Twain Harte School District administrators, teachers and other workers remain committed to serving students and their families and maintaining the safety and health of students and all staff, Hennes and Wingo said.
The first Twain Harte School opened in 1928 near part of the old Williams Ranch that is now known as Twain Harte Golf Course. In 1959, the school was relocated to its current location on Manzanita Drive.
Twain Harte School has a current enrollment of more than 260 students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.
