Mcclintock's sudden concern for enforcing laws
To the Editor:
Congressman Tom Mccarpetbagger, er, Mcclintock tells us, “Without enforcement of our immigration laws, our borders become meaningless.” I'm delighted that he is so concerned with enforcement of our laws and with his concern for “American's (sic) working families…”
Perhaps our so-concerned congressman could look to enforcement of other laws (and the Constitution, too). For example, “no person holding any office of profit or trust … shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office or title, or any kind whatever from any King, Prince, or foreign State.” Like, for instance, having a hotel down the street from the White House and making millions of dollars from said kings and princes and other folks. Enforcing that quirky little provision of the Constitution didn't seem to trouble Congressman MCC. when it came time to vote on the impeachment of Donnie Trump.
Or it might be good to enforce other pesky laws, too. Maybe the federal law that says no one can, “deprive or defraud the residents of a State of a fair and impartially conducted election process” by, say, telling a Georgia official, “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have.” Seems that's against a Georgia law, too. That didn't seem to bother ol' Tom though.
Inciting an insurrection? No problem for our congressman. Not enough of a problem to boot Don out of office.
And how about his “concern” for those working families? Not enough concern to vote for a law that would directly help millions of them. Nope. Better to whip up fear and anger about “illegal” immigrants “filling [our] classrooms,” “[driving] drunk on our roads,” “overwhelming emergency rooms with illegal immigrants demanding care.”
After all, those poor people just don't look like “us” do they, Tom?
