Good experience at vaccine clinic

- Steve Monroe Sonora

To the Editor:

Today I received my second coronavirus vaccination from the Tuolumne County Public Health Department at it's Sierra Bible Church drive through clinic. My thanks and compliments to all for a jab well done. It takes considerable time and effort to plan and administer vaccination programs, and even more effort to ensure success on the ground.

Permit me to express my appreciation to the department and most particularly the many who volunteered to assist with the planning and execution of this effort. I received timely advance emails and phone calls which provided me with all the information and the form I needed to get the job done. My drive through was a seamless, quick, and efficient experience attended at every step by a courteous personable staff member or volunteer who gave me the right information at the right time, watched over me in the event of a reaction, and released me when it was safe to go. It takes no small amount of courage and endurance to interact face to face, masks or not, with hundreds of persons, treat them with courtesy and dignity, and care for them both before and after the injection, all the while trusting that one does not themselves become a victim to this omnipresent virus.

My thanks as well to Sierra Bible Church for offering their facilities for the drive through clinic. It is another important example of how our churches support our community, both in times of need and every day.

I would hope that the Board of Supervisors publicly acknowledges the great work of all involved.
