A pause in life

- Corrine Williford Sonora

To the Editor:

Such a dramatic invasion the world has never seen, the offensive little virus named COVID-19. To ignore it we cannot, and to fight it we must, but with conflicting information, who can we trust? We are ordered to stay home and to close our door for nothing like this has mankind seen before. The meaning of life now resembles a vapor, and my biggest concern is toilet paper! Friends call who I haven't heard from in years, and we share our concerns and admit all our fears. With frantic hysteria and economy gone, I could see that my savings would soon be gone. Then one day at home with nothing to cheer, I walked outside and saw two deer; my seclusion was interrupted with joy and delight as I recognized the battle won't be that hard to fight. We're not in this alone, the world shares our pain, and by moaning and groaning there's nothing to gain. But the Lord our God gives us strength, hope and courage knowing all this shall pass, and our lives again flourish. A better day is coming, as we all know it must; as much depends on choices and who we dare to trust. The path may not be straight, and the way not clear, still onward we must travel, eliminating fear. Our life was wisely, carefully planned, and many say with such good intentions, how ever could we stray? Leaving much behind, onward we're forced to go now living one day at a time with little to show. Where is that “better days”, one wonders still because the path that we travel keeps going uphill! Now it's time in this life we take the roughs with the smooths and that by moving forward in faith, there's nothing to lose for with God as our guide, we depend less on mankind and then soon we discover all we need we will find!
