Mcclintock's record
To the Editor:
Our local congressman is boasting that he has once again voted against what is desperately needed for the survival of your family and community.
Tom Mcclintock and his Grand Qanon Party (GQP) all voted against COVID-19 vaccinations, survival assistance ($1,400 to 85% of Americans), safely reopening schools, reducing child poverty, ending food insecurities, small business grants and loans, rental and mortgage assistance, and more.
He even voted to take away tens of millions of dollars from Tuolumne County, Sonora and other municipalities. He/they tried to deny us money for our police, fire and health care protections.
Even though three out of four Americans polled supported the Biden/democratic Party COVID-19 American Rescue Plan — he did not.
Nothing new for him, he rarely if ever has voted for legislation that provides essential government assistance to your family.
March 3, 2010, he voted against the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” a.k.a. Obamacare. The ACA insures 23 million Americans directly and tens of millions indirectly. (Coverage for preexisting conditions, dependents up to 26 years old, preventative medicine, etc...)
Again, in 2013, he cosponsored the “Repeal of the Affordable Care Act.” After that he voted some 40 times for the repeal of Obamacare/aca.
He gives us two totally bogus reasons for his anti-family positions — “liberal spending and it will raise the national debt.”
The Republican numbers disclose exactly the opposite: Annual deficits went from $585 billion in 2017 to $1 trillion in 2019. Our debt increased by $3 trillion as a result of their tax cuts. One more fact: The U.S. officially went into recession in February 2020 before the COVID-19 outbreak.
Bottom line — Fortunately, Mcclintock/they failed.
Stay safe, mask up, distance, vaccinate, live, and vote for those who support your family and community.
