Reclaiming Italian Bar Road
To the Editor:
I would like to publicly thank the American Mining Rights Association for their great efforts in reclaiming the Italian Bar recreation area for the public. As I wrote over a month ago, a group of no-goods had made the campsites their permanent residence and commenced to turn the place into a trash and sewage strewn nightmare.
I don't know the names of the individuals from AMRA who led the effort, but they had the guts to enter the campsites to document the situation and meet with the government agencies involved to get something done. It took persistence that should not have been necessary to get the eviction and cleanup process started. Much is left to get done, but at last this section of the South Fork Stanislaus River has some hope of returning to its glory.
