Supervisor security
To the Editor:
Am I the only county resident who found the recent attendance of a Proud Boy from Placerville at a meeting of the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors a little unsettling? Dressed for confrontation, he sang a song while uploading his performance to the web in an apparent attempt to intimidate the supervisors into disregarding state law concerning local mask mandates. What are the security arrangements for supervisor meetings? Is there a metal detector in place? Does an armed deputy serve as a sergeant-at-arms?
This man's presence should serve as a wake-up call. As rightwing politicians and their media minions continue to stoke the violence of their fringe constituents, perhaps precautions are in order. I, for one, would hate to see our supervisors end up on the national news as the result of some racist nutjob trying to make a name for himself.
