1952 - 2021

Randall “Randy” Glen Haggard, a local business owner and longtime resident of Sonora, passed away on Dec. 1, 2021, at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Following a battle with complications from cardiac arrest, Randy’s final moments were peaceful and in the presence of family.

Randy was born in Burbank, California, on April 1, 1952, to Glen Earl Haggard and Nadja Claudine Reed. He started his business, Superior Signs, in Hayward. In the early 1990s, he moved his business to Tuolumne County and fell in love with the beautiful Sierra Nevada. In 1994, he married Bobbi, a Don Pedro park ranger. In 1997, he welcomed his son, Logan, who was the most important part of his life. In 2008, his beloved wife, Bobbi, passed away. In 2012, he married his loving wife, Monica, and gained three stepchildren, Andrew, Anita and Allison. In 2017, he became a step-grandfather and welcomed Catherine into his life.

Randy was a devoted father and successful businessman. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, off-roading, and spending time with his family. Randy was always ready with a smile and words of encouragement for anyone who needed it. Friends and loved ones could always depend on his authentic sincerity, kindness and generosity. He held a special place in his heart for his sweet dog, Dolly. Randy loved living in Sonora and being a part of the Mother Lode community.

Those who knew Randy recognized his passion for hard work and perseverance. He was the personification of the American Dream — Randy built his business from the ground up, stuck with it through thick and thin, and left behind a respected, family owned shop. He took pride in his business and was well-known for dependable, quality work. He was a devout Christian and was a committed member of Oakhill Presbyterian Church. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

Randy is survived by his wife, Monica Lee Haggard; his son, Logan Glen Haggard; his daughter, Cassie Moody; his stepchildren, Andrew Lee Dunkel, Anita Dunkel Itnyre and Allison Dunkel Sloat; his step-granddaughter, Catherine Elizabeth Itnyre; his sister, Sharyl Haggard; and his mother, Claudine Reed. He is predeceased by his father, Glen Haggard, and his late wife, Bobbi Haggard (née McClintock).

A memorial service will be held at Oakhill Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Condolences and memorial donations may be offered online at https://gofund. me/26937f03
