Afghanistan
To the Editor:
When President Biden ordered the U.S. military to evacuate Afghanistan, he left more than friends, families and allies. He left an enormous amount of military hardware. The London Times provides what is perhaps the most authoritative accounting published.
Scattered in seven Afghanistan army garrisons are 22,174 armored humvees, 42,000 pickup trucks and SUVS, 64,363 machine guns, 162,530 radios, 16,035 night-vision goggles, 358,530 assault rifles, 126,295 pistols and 176 artillery pieces.
Oh, I forgot to mention, he also left 100 helicopters, four
C-130 transports and 60 fixed wing aircraft. All this equipment was paid for by U.S. taxpayers. The total was in the billions of dollars.
Some of our allies were not happy about not being consulted before the decision was made.
Russia and China have noticed.
