Work on Pedro Wye realignment starts Monday; expect delays
Construction at Parrotts Ferry Road and Highway 49, also known as the Pedro Wye, is expected to get more intense beginning Monday as part of a $2.2 million project that will alter the alignment of the intersection.
There will be traffic restrictions and delays on Parrotts Ferry Road and Union Hill Road for the duration of construction, which is expected to last through March 28, the Tuolumne County Public Works Department said in a news release Thursday.
Union Hill Road will be closed at Parrotts Ferry Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, the release said.
The project consists of widening Parrotts Ferry Road from Highway 49 to about 500 feet north of Union Hill Road, constructing a right-turn lane on Highway 49 at Parrotts Ferry Road, eliminating the existing “swing lane” from Highway 49 onto Parrotts Ferry Road, and constructing a left-turn lane on Parrotts Ferry Road at Union Hill Road.
Work is scheduled to take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, unless otherwise announced, the release said.
United Pavement Maintenance Inc., based in Hughson, was awarded the contract to complete the project by the county Board of Supervisors. Subcontractors include Pacific Excavation, Safety Network and Chrisp Co.
