Karin Pierce

Karin Pierce died Dec. 29 at The Chateau at Gardnerville after a lengthy illness. She was 77. Born in Bietigheim, Germany, she was the daughter of Franz and Ursula (Grützke) Brückmann.
Following high school/ Gymnasium in Germany, Karin taught English in Norway. She later worked in the administrative field. She lived in Spokane, Washington, Corona and Thousand Oaks, California, before retiring to Sonora with her beloved spouse, Lane Pierce.
Karin enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining, playing cards with longtime friends and family, loving some healthy competition. She enjoyed walks around the neighborhood, reading, and Karin and Lane were involved with the Sonora Elks Lodge No. 1587.
She is survived by her children, Laura (Pierce) Kliegman (Hal Kliegman), Karen (Pierce) Cooper (Roy Cooper), Vince Pierce, and Jeff Pierce (Jenn Parizo); five grandchildren, Bridget Cooper, Brianna Pierce, Chloe Baughman, Sawyer Pierce and Avery Pierce; one sister and brother-inlaw, Hannelore and Egbert Hauke; one brother and sister-in-law, Güenther and Regina Brückmann; and sister-in-law, Annette (Pierce) Moore.
A celebration of Karin’s life will be held in the spring of 2022 in Sonora and will be announced at a later date.
