2021: A year in review

-

To the Editor:

Spending $2.7 million on the Rose Creek Bridge in the Stanislaus National Forest on Italian Bar Road miles from pavement. Meanwhile crumbling where 90% use it. Different funding source silly!

Parrotts Ferry Road to the county line — a disaster, SB1: Our roads will be great, we promise! Hey, BTW, where are we with Rawhide Road Bridge? Nevermind.

Insurance commissioner officially says the Washington Fire was a threat to Columbia. Huh? Wasn't it headed the other way to the sewer plant and Lowe's? No wonder we can't get affordable insurance! You're not canceled this year, but here come the premium increases. In '22, we'll get back to cancelling.

Weren't successful in taxing vacant land? Don't worry, a vegetation ordinance conflicting with “open space” and “oak tree protection” ordinances potentially costing landowners tens of thousands of dollars to comply annually. It will be enacted before the grass turns brown in 2022. Sorry grandma, but we did give you a 6% raise in your SS. Good news: Public lands will serve as the example. Grant funded, of course.

Systemic racism in Tuolumne County? Diversity and equity committees are in session. Nearly 62% voted to throw Newsom out of office, 63% voted here to replace him with Larry Elder. Think about that for a minute (that's all it should take).

Newsom, destroying roof top solar and free generation stations you all made for PG&E — one rooftop at a time. Massive cuts to net metering. His CPUC buddies already said yes. Don't count on Newsom to veto. Green New Deal: the California way. More out migration. Nothing to see here.

$125 to fill the tank, but card stops at $75. Run it again, fraud alert! “Your card has been denied.” Vaccinated? “Text 1 for NO, 2 for YES. OK, your card is ready to use. Text STOP to opt out.” Barry Rudolph
