check she received to update the library and buy books for students from the son of Betty Loll, a 90-year-old former Sonora resident of 17 years. Loll (right) has been
collecting books for the last 12 years to donate to the school’s library. For the past four of those years, she has been mail
ing boxes of books fromtexas, where she moved to live with her daughter.the school’s library buys books with money
raised during the annual Book Fair, which was canceled for two years due to
COVID-19. Loll’s son, John Gilligan, said he was inspired by his mother’s support
of the school’s library and wanted to honor her dedication through making the $5,000 donation. Loll returned to Sonora
in October to present the check to Carter.
