The Sonora Police Department reported the following:
WEDNESDAY
6:31 a.m., reckless driving
— A caller on South Washington Street said they saw a Volkswagen Golf swerve and lose traction while speeding at South Washington Street and Stockton Road.
8:36 a.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller on Pesce Way said she believes her ex-boyfriend is putting something in her food to make her fall asleep.
3:43 p.m., theft — A man stole a woman’s purse out of her shopping cart while it was left unattended in a store on Sanguinetti Road.
4:41 p.m., theft — A man stole a pair of clippers from a business on Sanguinetti Road.
The Sheriff’s Office did not provide Wednesday’s logs in time for publication.
CALAVERAS COUNTY
The Sheriff’s Office reported the following:
WEDNESDAY
6:59 a.m., Valley Springs — An arrest was made on North Ranchero Road after a fight.
3:04 p.m., Arnold — A man was arrested on Highway 4 after he started a fire in a garbage can.
6:32 p.m., Valley Springs — A report was taken for disturbance on Crosby Court.

Matthew Michael Covey, 38, of the 2500 block of Heinemann Drive, Valley Springs, was booked on suspicion of arson and first-degree burglary, as well as a number of outstanding felony warrants after an arrest on East St. Charles Street.
