Audubon outing slated Nov. 29
An outing on Nov. 29 led by the Central Sierra Audubon Society will take participants to Camanche Dam and Lodi.
A walk along the Mokelumne River will be led by Jean Dakota and will take walkers along the river to the Camanche Dam, where spilling water should be crowded with migrating salmon. Participants can do a selfguided tour of the fish hatchery.
The trip will then move on to a site on Woodbridge Road in the Lodi area where sandhill cranes fly in at dusk. Dakota hopes to also see black-crowned night herons, great blue herons, egrets, osprey, woodpeckers, vultures, hawks and more.
Participants should meet at 8 a.m. at Barrow’s on Mono Way in Sonora, then carpool to the walk site. Stops will be made in Copperopolis and Valley Springs to pick up others.
Participants can join the group for some or all of the outing.
