Phyllis, as she liked to be called, was born on April 10, 1928, in Sonora, California, to Lillian and Philip Kahl. Phyllis graduated from Sonora Union High School in 1944.

She was attended to with great care by her daughter Cheryl and was blessed to be able to see all three children, their spouses, and three of her grandchildren during her last two weeks

Phyllis will be remembered as a loving Christian woman for whom her family was her greatest joy and someone who always had a ready smile and a quick wit.

Phyllis and Ralph Joseph Cavalieri were married on June 29, 1946, in Reno, Nevada. They made their first home in Standard, California, where they started their family. Phyllis is survived by her three children, Ralph (wife Annette), Cheryl (husband Edward), and Robert (wife Wendy).

Phyllis was the loving grandmother of eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her spouse, her parents, five siblings and her infant son, John Carmen.

Phyllis loved music. She played flute in her high school band and orchestra, taught accordion and steel guitar for several years, and sang in many choirs and choral groups throughout her life. She was also a gifted crafter who sewed, knitted, and crocheted beautifully.

In 1971, Phyllis went to work for Sacramento County Board of Supervisors and then transferred to the County Agriculture Extension office. She continued working there until retirement. In 2003, Phyllis and Ralph moved to Surprise, Arizona, where they lived for 13 years. They enjoyed traveling with friends, visits from family, and activities at Crown of Life

Lutheran Church. In 2016, they moved to Marietta, Georgia, where they celebrated Ralph’s centennial birthday and enjoyed living with Cheryl and Eddie until just prior to Ralph’s passing in 2019.
