Joseph ‘Joe’ Ramon Rodriguez
1929 — 2023
Joe was born May 12, 1929 in Ventura, California. He was one of 14 children to parents Jose and Beatriz Rodriguez. He grew up in Ventura and Ojai, California. He attended Villanova Preparatory School in 1943, then graduated from Nordhoff High School in 1947. He worked for the Department of Forestry from 1947-50. He served our country when he was drafted by the Army for the Korean War from 1950-53. He then met his wife, Anita (Annie) Savala in 1954, and they were married Jan. 1, 1955. They were married for 46 years before Annie passed away in July 2001. Together they raised three children, Steven, Joanna and Annette.
Joe was a member of the Cement Masons Union Local 400 since 1957. He loved singing old cowboy songs. He had a great sense of humor, a great laugh and loved spending time with his family. He loved his bowling leagues in Sonora. Always trying to get a 300 game! He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.
Joe is survived by his son, Steven; his daughters, Annette and Joanna (Terry); his sisters, Dorothy, Carmen, and Florence; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Marcus, Robert, Norma, Eric, Sarah; his greatgrandchildren, Nevaeh, Naloni, Giovanni, Ethan, Christopher, James, Terry and Kathryn; and hundreds of nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Anita; his father, Jose; his mother, Beatriz; his brothers Robert, Raymond, William, Paul, and George; and his sisters Angelina, Delores, Caroline, Cecelia, and Katherine.
Our dad, Joseph Rodriguez, will be missed.
Grave site service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 30, 2023, at Shadow Mountain Cemetery, Lyons Bald Mountain and Greenley roads. Reception to follow service.
