Edgar ‘Lynn’ Eastlack

Longtime Jamestown resident Edgar “Lynn” Eastlack passed away on Nov. 1, 2023. He was 91 years old. He was born on July 24, 1932, in Sonora, California.

Lynn was an avid Civil War and World War II buff. When he was younger he kept his yard immaculate. He fell in love with flying, so at one point he got his pilot’s license and even bought a small plane. He was a great chauffeur for his grandchild­ren to and from activities. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r. He had a mischievou­s sense of humor, and loved to tease people, especially his family. He was a great lover of dogs since childhood. He was in the first kindergart­en class to attend the new Columbia Elementary School. He lived in Columbia until he joined the military, where his parents owned Eastlack’s Red and White grocery store, and his mother was mayor before it became a state park.

Lynn fought in the Korean conflict for a year and received the Bronze Star medal. He was a military instructor in Japan for a year and served in the Honor Guard in Germany for a year. He worked until retirement in the California Division of Forestry, now known as Cal Fire, as a heavy equipment operator.

Lynn is survived by his two children, Jauneen (Kenneth) Noland and Lorene (Ben) Newcombe; his four grandchild­ren, Christophe­r Noland, Genevieve (Noland) (Andrew) Kelly, Sara (Carajan) (Chris) Martinez and Katherine (Carajan) (Curtis) Wilson; and his six great-grandchild­ren.

Lynn was preceded in death by his father, Joshua (1950), his mother, Mary (1972), his brother, Gene (1974), and his wife of 56 years, Yvonne (2010).

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 East Rose Ave., at Lyons Street in Sonora.
