Afghanistan war deaths
Total number of U.S. military deaths since 2001 and names of the U.S. troops killed recently in the Afghanistan war, as announced by the Pentagon:

The latest deaths:
Sgt. Jason Mitchell McClary, 24, of Export, Pa.; 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Carson, Colo. Died Dec. 2 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of injuries suffered Nov. 27 in Ghazni province.
Pfc. Joshua Mikeasky, 19, of Johnstown, Pa.; 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Drum, N.Y. Died Dec. 13 at Bagram air base of a noncombat cause.
All troops were killed in action in Afghanistan unless otherwise indicated.
Total fatalities include six civilian employees of the Defense Department. They also include service members killed in other locations involved in Operation Enduring Freedom, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Djibouti; Eritrea; Ethiopia; Jordan; Kenya; Kyrgyzstan; Pakistan; Philippines; Seychelles; Sudan; Tajikistan; Turkey; Uzbekistan; and Yemen.
