Changes for Schools Staff
Anne Arundel County schools announced two changes yesterday that will affect the pay and organization of staff members at central offices. The county school board approved a plan to replace seniority-based salary increases for senior-level employees with merit raises. The change does not affect union employees such as teachers and principals and applies mainly to top-level staff members such as assistant superintendents and department directors.
Superintendent Kevin M. Maxwell also unveiled a plan to reorganize school directors. Previously, school supervisors had been arranged by grade levels, with directors overseeing sets of elementary, middle or high schools. The new plan will divide directors among three clusters and have them supervise schools by region.
