Georgetown’s Govan to return as senior
The Georgetown men’s basketball team won’t have lost all of its veterans when Coach Patrick Ewing begins his second season. The school confirmed Thursday night that center Jessie Govan withdrew from the NBA draft and will return to school for his senior season.
“I got some unfinished business!” Govan wrote in an Instagram post.
Govan’s return is a boon for the Hoyas, who already had lost power forward and veteran leader Marcus Derrickson when the Maryland native declared for the draft and signed with an agent in April. Next year, Govan and wing Kaleb Johnson will be the Hoyas’ only seniors to log significant minutes; transfer Greg Malinowski sat out the 2017-18 season and rounds out the senior class.
Govan led the Hoyas with 17.9 points and 10 rebounds per game last season.
