Nothing to fear on the Hill

-

Regarding the Jan. 5 Metro article “In ad, new congresswoman says she’ll carry firearm on Hill, around city”:

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R- Colo.) suggests she needs her weapon to walk through the Capitol Hill neighborhood to get to work. I went to Georgetown Law School in the mid-1980s, truly a dangerous stretch in D.C.’S history. I walked every day through Capitol Hill to get to school by Metro. For the past 34 years, I have taken the train and Metro from Baltimore to D.C., and then walked through its streets three or more days a week for work.

Also, I have her beat in the size department because I am only 4’11” and 100 pounds. Never once did the idea of a weapon cross my mind as a necessary accessory.
