Watching football, not politics


Regarding the Sept. 9 Sports article “Misguided NFL simply can’t tackle social justice”:

Since when is it the responsibi­lity of the National Football League to “tackle” social justice? This blatant disrespect for our flag and national anthem has no place in the game. Ditto for the “messages” in the end zone and on the helmets of players. Most of us just want to see a game.

If these issues are that important to some of the players, then surely they can express themselves on their own time, and not at their place of employment. Would you like to go into a private business (grocery store, drugstore, department store) and have employees push their political positions or religion on you? I didn’t think so.
