Huskies get past Tigers in double OT



Tyler Polley scored 24 points and hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 2:58 left in the second overtime to help No. 22 Connecticu­t beat No. 19 Auburn, 115-109, in Wednesday’s opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Connecticu­t faces Michigan State in Thursday’s semifinals.

Adama Sanogo scored 30 points for the Huskies (5-0), who blew a 15-point lead in regulation. K.D. Johnson scored 23 of his 27 points after halftime for the Tigers (4-1).

BAYLOR 75, ARIZONA STATE 63: L. J. Cryer scored 15 points, and the No. 6 Bears beat the Sun Devils (2-3) at the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Matthew Mayer added 14 for defending national champion Baylor (5-0), which plays Virginia Commonweal­th in Thursday’s semifinals.

TEXAS 68, CALIFORNIA BAPTIST 44: Timmy Allen and Andrew Jones scored 15 points apiece to pace the No. 8 Longhorns (4-1) over the Lancers (5-1) in Austin.

MEMPHIS 69, VIRGINIA TECH 61: Deandre Williams had 16 points as the No. 9 Tigers (5-0) topped the Hokies at the NIT Season Tip-off in New York. Nahiem Alleyne scored 21 points for Virginia Tech (5-1).

HOUSTON 78, OREGON 49: Fabian White Jr. scored 15 points, Marcus Sasser added 14, and the No. 12 Cougars (5-1) routed the Ducks in the Maui Invitation­al third-place game in Las Vegas.

Eric Williams Jr. scored 13 points for Oregon (3-3).

BYU 81, TEXAS SOUTHERN 64: Te’jon Lucas had 18 points and seven assists to lead the No. 18 Cougars (5-0) in Provo, Utah. P. J. Henry led the Tigers (0-6) with 21 points.

MICHIGAN 65, TARLETON STATE 54: Eli Brooks scored 15 points, and the No. 20 Wolverines (4-2) overcame 20 turnovers to beat the Texans (1-5) in Ann Arbor, Mich.

FLORIDA 71, OHIO STATE 68: Tyree Appleby hit a threepoint­er at the buzzer to give the No. 23 Gators a win over the Buckeyes (4-2) in the Fort Myers (Fla.) Tip-off championsh­ip game.

Florida (5-0) got 19 points from Phlandrous Fleming Jr.

SETON HALL 62, CALIFORNIA 59: Jared Rhoden scored 21 points as the No. 21 Pirates (4-1) beat the Golden Bears in the third-place game at the Fort Myers Tip- Off.

Andre Kelly had 23 points and 11 rebounds for California (2-4).

IOWA STATE 82, XAVIER 70: Izaiah Brockingto­n scored 23 of his 30 points in the second half, and the Cyclones (5-0) beat the No. 25 Musketeers (4-1) in the NIT Season Tip- Off.

VCU 67, SYRACUSE 55: Levi Stockard III scored 15 points and Marcus Tsohonis added 12 to help the Rams (3-2) beat the Orange in the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis. Buddy Boeheim scored 20 points for Syracuse (3-2).

MISSOURI STATE 72, GEORGE WASHINGTON 54: Gaige Prim had 20 points to spark the Bears (4-2) over the Colonials at the Naples (Fla.) Invitation­al.

James Bishop scored 17 points for George Washington (2-6).

MURRAY STATE 74, JAMES MADISON 62: Trae Hannibal scored 15 points to help the Racers (5-1) beat the Dukes at the Naples Invitation­al. Takal Molson scored 14 points for James Madison (5-2).

NAVY 89, WASHINGTON COLLEGE 40: John Carter Jr. scored 10 points as the Midshipmen (4-2) defeated the Division III Shoremen in Annapolis.

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 80, GEORGE MASON 76: Noah Freidel scored 25 points to lead the Jackrabbit­s (6-2) over the Patriots in Sioux Falls, S.D. D’shawn Schwartz scored 29 points for the Patriots (4-4).

Georgetown women triumph

Milan Bolden-morris scored 21 points and Kelsey Ransom added 15 to pace Georgetown (3-2) to a 66-55 victory over Loyola at McDonough Arena. Bri Rozzi scored 15 points for the Greyhounds (2-4).

JAMES MADISON 77, N.C. CENTRAL 54: Kiki Jefferson had 23 points and Jaylin Carodine grabbed 15 rebounds as the Dukes (3-2) won in Harrisonbu­rg, Va.
