Gunman kills 3 before bystander shoots him
A gunman shot and killed three people and injured two others at a mall outside Indianapolis on Sunday evening before he was fatally shot by a “good Samaritan” bystander, officials said.
The gunman, an adult male, was armed with a long gun and appears to have acted alone, Chief Jim Ison of the Greenwood Police Department said. Police did not yet have a motive.
Officers responded about
6 p.m. local time to the food court in Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, a city just south of Indianapolis. A good Samaritan who was in the vicinity shot and killed the gunman, Ison said. He added that he believed the bystander had a handgun.
