Two dead in weekend shootings, police say

D.C. police are investigat­ing two homicides that took place in the District on Saturday night.

About 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Adams Street NE, according to police. They found three men suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. They were all transporte­d to a hospital, where one of the men was later pronounced dead. Police identified the deceased victim as 27-year-old Jaquan Bragg.

A fourth man was located at a hospital. He and the other two men were being treated for nonlife-threatenin­g injuries, police said.

Also about 9 p.m., officers responding to reports of an unconsciou­s person at South Capitol Street SE and Anacostia Drive SE found one man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said. He was transporte­d to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As of Sunday evening, police had not released the victim’s identity.

D.C. police had reported 113 homicides for this year as of Friday, up 14 percent from this time last year.
