Resolving differences
Regarding Josh Rogin’s Feb. 21 Tuesday Opinion column, “China slaps away America’s outstretched hand”:
Perhaps more was said explicitly in private between Chinese and U.S. officials, but there is otherwise no real public indication that either side has begun a serious effort to discuss and resolve differences. Each side continues to insult and threaten the other side while dismissing its self-styled diplomatic virtues.
Refraining from further exploiting the latest spat in public might signal the opening of a hand rather than the closing of a fist. But it takes more than that for the hand to be outstretched.
