Couple found dead in murder-suicide

An elderly couple are dead in what police are calling a murdersuicide in Northern Virginia.

Fairfax County police went to a home in the 8900 block of Walker Street near Little River Turnpike in the Fairfax area to check on the welfare of a couple about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found the pair dead in the home.

Authorities identified the victims as 86-year-old Janos John Gertler and 73-year-old Eva Anna Vas. Police say they believe that Gertler shot Vas, his wife, before shooting himself.

Efforts to reach their family were not successful Wednesday.
