A March 5 Page One article about divorce in Afghanistan mischaracterized the status of some women who divorced and remarried under the previous government. The divorces and remarriages would not have been allowed under the current Taliban regime’s strict interpretation of Islamic law, but the group has not declared that these prior divorces are void or that women who have remarried are committing adultery. The article also incorrectly said that some women risk imprisonment for adultery; it should have said they fear imprisonment.

A Feb. 18 Metro article about bald eagles incorrectly identified an owl as a gray horned owl. It is a great horned owl.
