Man killed in alley after revealing gun to police
Authorities say D.C. police fatally shot a man who produced a handgun in an alley.
Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham said three officers on routine patrol in Southeast encountered a group of men Tuesday night.
Multiple shots were fired after the man pulled out the gun, but it was unclear whether he fired his weapon, the chief said.
It also was unclear how many of the officers fired their weapons.
None of the officers was injured. Chief Newsham said no one was in custody and police were not looking for any perpetrators.
The police chief said multiple witnesses were cooperating with investigators gathering evidence.
The deceased man has not been identified.
