the FBI / 7:00pm (Showtime) 1:00am (Showtime) 4:45am (Showtime) There’s a double meaning behind “You’re Fired,” the finale to this examination of historical tensions between American presidents and their FBI team. First, those two words were a catchphrase for Donald Trump as host on TV’s “The Apprentice.” More currently, the phrase references President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey, which set in motion events that could lead to the biggest constitutional crisis in U.S. history. It’s a still-breaking story revolving around Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into an alleged Russian attack on the 2016 U.S. election. Dancing With the Stars: Juniors
/ 8:00pm (7) The remaining celebrity kid couples advance to the finals in “The Finale: Holiday Special.” Before that, though, judges Mandy Moore, Val Chmerkovskiy and Adam Rippon, along with hosts Jordan Fischer and Frankie Muniz, join all 12 Juniors kid couples and their mentors for a big group dance. The first round of tonight’s competition starts as the finalist couples reprise a favorite dance from earlier in the season. Then, Round 2 challenges them to cut loose in a freestyle performance to a holiday-themed song.
The Flash / 8:00pm (50) “Elseworlds, Part 1” kicks off a highly anticipated new threenight crossover event that opens when Barry Allen and Oliver Queen (Grant Gustin, guest star Stephen Amell) awaken to realize something has caused them to switch bodies with each other. They’re desperate to understand what upset the timeline to cause this shift, but when the members of Team Flash don’t believe their story, the two heroes realize they need the help of Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist). Counterpart / 9:01pm (Starz) 11:01pm (Starz) 1:04am (Starz) Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons returns in his dual role as this head-spinning (but sadly underwatched) sci-fi series returns for its sophomore season. Season 1 saw low-level United Nations employee Howard Silk (Simmons) discovering a secret portal to an alternate reality. Ultimately, Howard and his alt-world doppelganger wound up trapped in each other’s worlds. As the story resumes, both Howards must adapt to their new realities.
