Democrats flee snow-bound D.C. for Puerto Rico fundraiser
A two-week run of special performances of “Hamilton,” with Lin-Manuel Miranda reprising his lead role, is expected to draw thousands of adoring fans, stars and politicians — including a junket of Democrats from the nation’s snowbound capital.
The performances are expected to raise millions of dollars for artists and cultural groups struggling in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Opening night on Friday drew more than 1,000 people who bought tickets ranging from $10 to $5,000.
On hand for the festivities are some 30 Democratic members of Congress, according to The Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard.
