Ice­land and New Zealand again lead a global rank­ing of “peace­ful­ness,” as mea­sured by a coun­try’s level of mil­i­ta­riza­tion and ex­po­sure to in­ter­nal and ex­ter­nal se­cu­rity threats. The U.S. was in the bot­tom third, while Afghanistan and Syria fin­ished dead last among 163 coun­tries and ter­ri­to­ries rated.
