Until recently, Supergirl was a second-rate superhero, a lazily conceived sop to female comics fans. But since making the leap to TV in 2015, the character has soared with Melissa Benoist wearing the cape. Following a midseason hiatus, the show picks up with its 20-something superheroine, aka Kara, battling a growing alliance of Worldkillers while contending with the prospect that an old flame, Mon-El, just can’t quit her.
