Wine: Vino Nobile
Tired of chasing wine trends? asked Michael Austin in the Chicago Tribune. The wines of Montepulciano, Italy, have been deservedly admired for centuries: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the Tuscan town’s signature product, is “a formidable, medium-bodied dry red that also offers some elegance.” Don’t confuse it with wine made from the Montepulciano grape. Vino Nobile and its less expensive sibling, Rosso di Montepulciano, are sangiovese blends. Below, three Vino Nobiles worth tracking down.
($26). In this bottle, “savory notes mingle with cherry, herbs, blue fruit, violets, earth, leather, and spice.”
