Tip of the week...How

- Gravy: Cranberry sauce: Candle wax: Red wine: Real Simple

Greasy stains require immediate attention. Dab the spot with a paper towel, sprinkle it with cornstarch or baby powder, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Alternatively, rub in some castile soap. Launder the garment as usual.

Remove any globs of sauce with a spoon, then dab the stain with either club soda, a pretreater pen, or soap and cool water. Don’t put the garment in the dryer until the stain is gone.

First, let it harden—and the freezer can help. Chip away the bulk of it, and use a spot remover if the wax has melted into the fibers. Stains on rugs and tablecloths can be sandwiched between paper towels and ironed on low heat.

Rinse with cool water from the back of the stained fabric and pretreat with liquid detergent and an oxygen whitener. Use both products when laundering. Source:
