A survey by personal finance site Finder.com shows that 77 percent of Americans want to avoid dating a partner who is in debt. Asked how much debt would disqualify a partner entirely, respondent­s said an average of $11,525 in credit card debt or $51,000 in student loans.

U.K. banks and other financial institutio­ns have moved $1 trillion out of the country to other parts of Europe so they can keep operating in the European Union after Brexit. That’s 10 percent of the banking sector’s assets.

The median income from writing for full-time authors, according to the Authors Guild, was $20,300 in 2017. For part-time writers, it was $6,080. That’s 42 percent lower than in 2010, a decline driven in part by the costs to publishers and authors of paying for promotion on Amazon.com.

Six Wall Street firms lowered their prediction­s for the S&P 500 index performanc­e in 2019. All major banks remained bullish, but Citigroup cut its target from 3,100 to 2,850. Wells Fargo, the least optimistic, predicts 2019 will end with the index at 2,665.

691 million tons in 2018, the lowest level since 1979. Coal plants are shutting faster than expected because of the falling costs of wind and solar power.

The Lambda School, a startup that offers programs in education and data science, is offering students a deal to pay for their training with a share of their salary. Lambda asks for 17 percent of any earnings over $50,000 a year for two years, with a maximum tuition of $30,000.
