TV: First woman to run CBS News

-

Reeling from misconduct scandals, CBS this week tapped a woman to run its news division, said Stephen Battaglio in the Los Angeles Times. Susan Zirinsky, a “legendary figure” at the network, will be the first woman to hold the job. “Zirinsky’s hard-charging early years at CBS News inspired the type A producer played by Holly Hunter in the 1987 film Broadcast News.” She arrives amid falling ratings and the aftermath of sexual harassment charges that led to the departures of CBS This Morning’s Charlie Rose and 60 Minutes producer Jeff Fager, as well as network chief Les Moonves.
