Alan Moore’s enormously influential graphic novel has inspired a sequel series. Set in a 2019 in which Robert Redford has been president for 28 years, Damon Lindelof’s ambitious drama imagines an America in which reparations have failed to erase racial conflict and police officers wear masks but can’t fire their guns without remote approval. Oscar winner Regina King stars as an Oklahoma detective who adopts the superhero identity Sister Night while taking on a violent white supremacist group. With Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, and, yes, Robert Redford. Sunday, Oct. 20, at 9 p.m., HBO
