The Week’s guide to what’s worth watching
Maxxx
Boy bands must have been invented to inspire comedy series like this one. Creator and star O-T Fagbenle plays the title character, who might be Drake if Drake had reached his peak in a British pop trio called Boy Town and was now a tabloid punch line and embarrassingly desperate to regain a semblance of stardom. Fast-paced and irreverent, the series wins unexpected comedy assists from supermodel Jourdan Dunn and Law & Order’s Christopher Meloni, who plays Boy Town’s former manager. Available for streaming Tuesday, June 2, Hulu
In My Skin
6½ cups whole milk
Zest of 2 lemons, peeled in strips
Season pork well all over with sea salt and stud it with cloves. In a large, deep frying pan, heat oil over medium high, add pork, and brown evenly on all sides. In a deep Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sage and garlic and cook a few minutes, until fragrant. Add bay leaves, milk, and lemon zest. Bring to a simmer, add pork, and cover, leaving lid partially askew to allow steam to escape. Cook over low heat for at least 3 hours, until meat is meltingly tender and gives when prodded with 5 tbsp olive oil
3 garlic cloves, finely sliced
1½ lbs zucchini, halved and thinly sliced 1 dried chile, crumbled, or a pinch of red
chile flakes
Sea salt
Handful of mint leaves, chopped
Pinch of grated lemon zest
2 tbsp almonds, toasted and roughly chopped
In a heavy-lidded skillet, warm oil over medium heat, then add garlic and zucchini. Sprinkle with chile, and cook over mediumlow heat, stirring occasionally, so that zucchini begins to color and caramelize.
After 5 to 10 minutes, when a fair number of the zucchini have caramelized, cover skillet and lower heat. Cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally; if the zucchini begin to stick, add a splash of water.
Once zucchini softens, taste and season. Add chopped mint, lemon zest, and almonds just before serving. This is best eaten at room temperature. Serves 4 to 6.
