Airbnb: Drawing closer to an IPO
Airbnb plans to file paperwork for an initial public offering, said
Corrie Driebusch in The Wall Street Journal, “laying the groundwork for a potential listing before the end of the year.” An IPO from Airbnb, founded in 2008, has been awaited for years by Airbnb’s employees and Silicon Valley backers. Valued at over $30 billion three years ago, Airbnb “rushed to secure financing” as people stopped traveling and cancellations piled up. Airbnb laid off a quarter of its staff in May, but its “rebound has been surprisingly swift” this summer.
