Trade secrets: Star engineer sentenced to prison
The pioneering engineer Anthony Levandowski was sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing trade secrets from Google, said Kirsten Korosec and Mark Harris in TechCrunch.com. Levandowski admitted to “downloading thousands of files” from an early Google self-driving project before he left to start an autonomous trucking company, Otto. He sold Otto to Uber less than eight months later, triggering “a multiyear legal saga.” Levandowski filed a lawsuit in July alleging Uber owes him $4.1 billion in earnouts from Otto, now called Uber Freight.
