Biden sets new limits on ‘ghost guns’
President Biden took a number of modest steps on gun control last week, issuing a series of executive actions to address so-called ghost guns and stabilizing braces that effectively turn pistols into short-barreled rifles.
The actions would require a background check for buyers of ghost guns that can be assembled from kits and would institute an order that all component parts be labeled with a serial number. Right now, the weapons—a favorite of criminal organizations—are untraceable. Another executive order made buyers of stabilizing braces—one was used by the Boulder, Colo., gunman in March—subject to the stricter scrutiny of the National Firearms Act. Biden called gun violence in America “an international embarrassment.”
