The Week (US)

Bad week for:

Just asking questions, after right-wing rocker Ted Nugent used a Facebook Live session to claim that “I’m addicted to truth, logic, and common sense,” and in that spirit demanded to know “Why weren’t we shut down for Covid 1 through 18?”

Voter suppression, after absolutely no one in La Russell, Mo., population 70, showed up to vote in last week’s local elections. “I guess we didn’t throw up the flag and let everyone know there was an election,” said city clerk Deborah Burton.

Consequences, after the lawyer for Thomas Webster, 54, accused of beating a police officer with a metal pole and trying to gouge his eyes out during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, said it “has been a shock” for the retired police officer and former Marine to find himself in jail alongside people serving time for “inner-city crimes.”
